April 13, 2004 Meeting
DUCKY 56ers NEWS:
Our next meeting, May 11th, will be held at the Ronald McDonald House in Maywood.
Our treasurer, Pat Jelinek is back!! Welcome back, Pat! The current balance for our treasury is approximately $5000. The charity portion is approximately $3600. Exact amounts will be announced at next month’s meeting.
LOVE Notes, a newsletter from Ronald McDonald House, included our club as one of it’s contributors and also spoke about our participation in assembling their Christmas layout.
On May 17, 2004 the Department 56 Board of Directors will be in Chicago. They would like to
invite retailers and collectors to a reception that evening at the Department 56, Inc. Retail Store,
located at Water Tower Place.
Brandon informed us that on June 3rd, Cubs Pitcher Mark Prior will be at the Naperville Just
Ducky. There will be available Limited Edition Wrigley Field of 1000 pieces hand signed by
Mark Prior exclusive to Just Ducky!
Peggy Carr will be at both Naperville and Darien Just Ducky on April 30th.
April 24th is “Girl’s Day Out” at both Just Ducky locations.
2004 CHICAGO GATHERING UPDATE:
450+ people signed up!!
Department 56 is sending an entire crate of “goodies”.
CEO - Susan Engel will be at the Gathering, it will be the only one she will attend this year.
NCC volunteers are needed - volunteers will be given an NCC pin for helping!
34 Seminars will be given
Chicago Tribune will be present on Friday.
4 Buildings will be given away per seminar
160 prizes per day given away in the Hospitality Room
Auction money will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes
Marketplace will have over 70 tables
If anyone is attending the gathering and can bake some cookies and bring them, it would be greatly appreciated!! They will be served in the Hospitality Room.

For people who collect pins and are interested in a vest, Rich Wyllie has the information on where to get one. The vests are $30, embroidery from Holy Cow is $25 for logo on back and $5 for your name.
Demo:
Kirk and Brandon did an excellent demonstration
on “Creating Levels”. Kirk
prefers to use plywood with blocks to create his different levels and covers
it with fleece. Brandon prefers
to use styrofoam which he cuts with his hot wire to create levels.
